Schweet Lord! Is this external serial advanced technology attachment connector propritery to highpoint? I hope we see more uses out of it, since the current drives don't use that much bandwidth. Ooo! Perhaps an external serial ata raid array, now that would be schweet!

That would be very fast. Very Expensive. And very scary.

no idea but thats my guess.
Two different products.
  • A Serial ATA RAID card with 2 internal and 2 external Serial ATA connectors.
  • An External Serial ATA enclosure.

Well, I'm sure it's a simple four channel raid controller, so I don't think it matters if you use the external connectors. You'd probably get at least RAID 0 and RAID 1 off of the internal connectors.

I have no problems seeing the video. I do have conflight with some of your terminology, 3GM.

USB 2.0 is 480Mbps, ie megabits per second and not MB or megabytes per second.

Serial ATA is 1.5Gbps, or gigabits per second. No HDD is capable of 1.5GB/s data transfer rate. If you can find one I will worship you as a God.

Remember that data is transferred in bits, not bytes.

Also, RAID does indeed stand for Redundant Array of Independant Discs. Considering RAID 5 SCSI arrays I'd hardly consider RAID inexpensive.

I'm in the USAF and I have a quad 900MHz Xeon 2MB L2 cache CPU Dell PowerEdge 6400 server with six 33.6GB Seagate SCSI drives in a RAID 5 array as a testbed server. Would you think an array like that is inexpensive?

I must say, however, that your video reviews are a good change of style for hardware reviews. I really like them and you are very knowledgeable and very clear when you speak.

Two thumbs up!

It's the same old Highpoint 4-channel RAID controller we know and love (RocketRAID404, IT7, etc.). It should do everything those do.
