China refuses open Internet during Olympics
"Just over a month after the International Olympic Committee "insisted" with China that the Internet must be open during the Games, officials have said that it won't be entirely open, because it must screen out "unhealthy web sites." ~arstechnica.com Hackers' on epilepsy forum cause seizures
"Computer attacks typically don't inflict physical pain on their victims. But in a rare example of an attack apparently motivated by malice rather than money, hackers recently bombarded the Epilepsy Foundation's Web site with hundreds of pictures and links to pages with rapidly flashing images. The breach triggered severe migraines and near-seizure reactions in some site visitors who viewed the images. People with photosensitive epilepsy can get seizures when they're exposed to flickering images, a response also caused by some video games and cartoons." ~google.com USB 2.0 Computer Copy Cable Review
"For most computer savvy users, transferring data between two computers is relatively easy. If you have a network set up, you can share data between two computers. Alternatively, you can simply use a flash drive... but that might not be very efficient if you are transferring a large amount of data. But, for those users who aren't as "skilled" with computers, this can present quite a problem. I have seen countless people burn CD after CD of data to transfer to their laptop, which of course is time-consuming and wasteful." ~ocia.net NVIDIA GeForce To Quadro Soft-Mod Guide
"It all revolves around the driver support for professional 3D applications like 3ds Max or Maya. Quadro drivers allow the Quadro to be used to accelerate the rendering operations of such professional 3D applications while GeForce drivers do not. This is the basis for the premium prices NVIDIA (and ATI) charge for their professional-grade graphics cards." ~techarp.com No ID, no 'mature' video games for you
"A new bill in the U.S. Congress would force retailers to card kids attempting to buy video games bearing "mature" or "adults only" ratings." ~news.com Diamond Viper HD 3650 1GB
"Much like other 3650 cards, you get a pretty good performer packed with features for a low price. The inclusion of native HDMI-out is a big plus for anyone running a home theater PC setup, but others are not left out with VGA and DVI connections as well." ~overclockersonline.net The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Announced

Noiseblocker Coolscraper 3.0 Review
"Noiseblocker have created some pretty immense coolers in the past, notably among them is the Coolscraper series which combines high performance cooling with ultra silence. Now they've sent me the much anticipated Coolscraper 3. Lets see if it lives up to the high standard that we have come to expect from Coolscraper over the past few years." ~xsreviews.co.uk Mass Effect PC - Is Piracy The Better Choice?
"DRM Systems do not work. Name a system that hasn't been easily cracked by the stereotypical pimply nerd teen within days or weeks of an implementation. You can't. They inconvenience legitimate users. They turn product purchases into merely permission to use an asset. They are always (as in ALWAYS) defeated within a very brief timeframe of their implementation, turning a huge capital investment by a content producer into the cyber equivalent of that film "The Money Pit" . And, they can easily make legitimately purchased content become a "cyber brick". Do you think this cannot happen? Microsoft's "Plays For Sure" anyone? "Plays For Sure" was an ironic choice of words for a system that has now left millions of people with content that, come September, will no longer play." ~fastsilicon.com Tech's top 10 workspaces
"What makes for an appealing workspace? The envelopes they leave in your mailbox every two weeks. But after that, it comes down to design and amenities. Also, we like windows and brick. Lots and lots of brick. After spending some time on Office Snapshots, we present the ten best-looking offices in tech, below." ~valleywag.com NESTEQ ECS7001 700W PSU

S3 Chrome 430 GT Graphics Card
"S3 hasn’t stopped releasing graphics cards, but we just don’t seem to hear much about them anymore. Hopefully that’s going to change with the release of the Chrome 430 GT. It’s a low-end card that seems to be capable of taking on the big boys at NVIDIA and AMD. Trying to fire up GPU-Z just resulted in an error due to none of it being able to be recognized, though the core comes in at 625MHz and there is 256MB of GDDR2 memory running at a speed of 500MHz DDR. We have a 64-bit interface, 64nm core, PCI Express 2.0 support, Direct X 10.1 and Open GL 2.1 support." ~tweaktown.com NVIDIA Hybrid SLI and HybridPower Bench
"NVIDIA Hybrid SLI and HybridPower technology are welcomed additions to the enthusiast computing scene and give consumers another reason to purchase NVIDIA platforms. Having the ability to turn off the discrete graphics at will is one of the coolest new features we have seen on a PC. It's amazing that it took this long for someone to figure it out, but the time has finally come. NVIDIA Hybrid SLI technology was found to be pretty solid for being brand new technology. The slight performance decrease was expected, but the ability to use HybridPower seems to outweigh the performance hit..." ~legitreviews.com Blizzard attempt to kill WoW bot
"Blizzard is fighting against a company that sells a bot program for use with World of WarCraft, but is doing so in a novel, and scary way: using your RAM to play games is copyright infringement, until Blizzard tells you it isn't." ~arstechnica.com Turn Your Canon into a Super-Camera

"As the Media Center or Home Theatre PC becomes more popular in homes the need for a better way to interact with the PC on the other end becomes critical. "I rolled myself a Priestess of Mitra. So let’s start with character creation. Overall I thought the variety of options for customizing my character was quite high. I won’t say I’m in love with the final product. I guess guys will be thrilled with the ability to make a hot body for the female avatars. I was not so thrilled with my best efforts to make a cute face. I realize this is not a huge issue, I am merely providing feedback in the order in which I experienced each aspect. I know the Hyborian life was a tough one so the people probably weren’t overly ‘cute” anyway. This was only cosmetic and not a big deal." ~bittdaily.com Hanns-G Hi221D 22in Widescreen
"Shopping for a monitor isn't exactly straightforward, though. As if picking a size weren't hard enough, you also have to balance your standards for specifications versus price. That's too much work for a lot of people, especially after they just spent a month researching the best hardware to buy, and they stick with the well-known names like Samsung and Viewsonic." ~ocia.net Mushkin Launches Ascent, High-End Memory
