"Open sourcers have seized control of the OpenOffice project and product and declared their independence from database giant Oracle. The OpenOffice.org Project has unveiled a major restructuring that separates itself from Oracle and that takes responsibility for OpenOffice away from a single company..." "Until there's a decision from Oracle the OpenOffice.org suite will be retain the LibreOffice name. Based on Oracle's history of responding to community ultimatums, we suggest you get used to LibreOffice." | more
I prefer Microsoft Office rather than LibreOffice because I fell right at home with it -- mostly because of the ribbon interface. I gave OpenOffice a chance before, but like Tiv said (can I call you "Tivon?"), OpenOffice felt incomplete to me. For me, I really don't like having to navigate through a bunch of menu commands and navigate through a bunch of small icons in toolbars.
I never did use this software anyway. I'm sure it's a good alternative, but last time I tried to use their version of writer I was left feeling incomplete. For me I like the Microsoft wood spell checking, grammar checks and the Synonyms.
