Quantic Dream's "adult" quick-time-tastic adventure thriller Heavy Rain has now sold over one million copies, publisher Sony has announced on the PlayStation.Blog.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive was released in North America on February 23. The first 'Heavy Rain Chronicle' downloadable content episode 'Taxidermist' was released to all and sundry on April 1 for $4.99, having previously been given free to pre-orderers. As well as further Chronicles, support for the PlayStation Move controller is in the works.
Digital distributor Direct2Drive has kicked off the first week of its first-annual and month-long "Spring Sale!" promotion, offering discounts on a variety of PC games.

Electronic Arts have launched the free-to-play, browser-based Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online. A sub-set of the game's content is available for free, with monthly ($9.99) or yearly ($59.99) subscriptions available to gain access to all of the courses. Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior series pits iconic warriors from different historical eras against each other in one-on-one virtual gladiatorial duels. To simulate the battles on the show they analyze the combatants in detail, examining their typical tactics and performing a battery of tests on their weaponry. The first season included matchups like Viking vs. Samurai and Pirate vs. Knight. It sounds like the setup for a videogame and sure enough, as revealed during the VGA's, it's getting a fighting game adaptation due out as a downloadable title later this year.

Electronic Arts sends word that Battlefield 1943, DICE's downloadable multiplayer-only re-imagining of Battlefield 1942, has become the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade title to move 1 million units since its release in July 2009.
With the first downloadable add-on for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due on Xbox 360 in under a week (Tuesday, March 30 to be exact) publisher Activision is continuing to detail its contents, this time in the form of five screenshots--one for each map.

Australian attorney-general and violent video games opponent Michael Atkinson has resigned, the Sydney Morning Herald reports, potentially opening the path for an adults-only video games rating and an end to 'bans' and censorship down under.
Australia currently has no equivalent of the adults-only 'R18+' rating available to films for video games, which meant that games deemed by too mature for the highest rating of MA15+ could not legally be sold, rented or demonstrated--effectively banning them.
