AMD and Fresco Logic gains USB 3.0 certification

"It's been a slow progress, but we're finally starting to get some alternatives to Renesas USB 3.0 chips and today the USB-IF also announced the first USB 3.0 certified chipsets courtesy of AMD. Fresco Logic also got its FL1009 USB 3.0 host controller certified today which is a viable alternative to Renesas two port solution and it will allegedly bring better performance at lower cost, all of which sounds like good news to us."

AMD A-Series (Llano), Socket FM1 Pictured

"Chinese website ZOL.cn have revealed pictures of an Engineering Sample of Llano, along with the first pictures of the FM1 Socket Llano fits into. A CPU-Z screenshot has also been posted, which refers to a quad core AMD Engineering Sample running at 2.4 GHz, and featuring 1MB L2 cache and no L3 cache - in tune with what would be expected from a Llano sample."

Rumour: AMD FX-series (Bulldozer) releasing June 11th

"Five years in the making, AMD's Bulldozer has gone through a slew of changes in schedule. According to the last report, Bulldozer's shipping date was suggested as June 20th. Now, DonanimHaber is introducing a new date - June 11th. AMD's 9-series motherboards will release in May, presumably during Computex 2011 time. Around this time, AMD's FX series is expected to be officially announced and dated."

Intel's LGA-1155 cross platform compatibility confirmed

"There have been some rumours about Intel's cross platform compatibility for the LGA-1155 and VR-Zone can now confirm that the current Sandy Bridge platform will be compatible with the upcoming Ivy Bridge platform. That said, it's not guaranteed that you’ll be able to pop an Ivy Bridge processor into a P67/H67 motherboard without having to think twice about it."

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti to launch on March

"The upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, based on the new GF116 chipset is expected to launch on March 15. Although the GF116 is a mainstream chipset, NVIDIA has chosen to name its new card the GTX 550 Ti, and not the GTS 550.
