im addicted to the internet, but to a certain degree, i know when to stop, when im outside my house, the internet isn't me, but if im inside the house, really i need to be on the internet 24/7 :D

I spent all day watching and waiting for new 3dgameman videos, so yes i am addicted to internet.

I spend anywhere from 5-12 hours a day on the internet.
And by the way, you can be addicted to the internet. It's not about the chemical, but the emotional state that you are addicted to. So emotionally and mentally you can be addicted to just about anything, cause your mind and emotions keep "running off" to the "feeling/sensation" (which has nothing to do with the physical thing) you experience when you are "using" whatever it is (internet, porn, tv...)

I spend a lot of time online, but it's all productive, no apologies. Keep up the good work.

Rodney, you can't physically be addicted to the internet.
You need a chemical to be addicted. If there is no chemical, you are obsessed.

And yes I am obsessed with being online :)

I voted other because I actually hate the internet, as in what it has done to the community. I feel that socializing has been morally wounded to the point that we are so desensitized about being communicationl we end up being sick of each other. Trolls are born a dime a dozen because of the internet, free speech of hate across the globe and people can get away with it.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the idea of being able to communicate with a friend thousands of miles away, but now people barely care about seeing you eye to eye.

I want to snail mail someone a letter, shake someone's hand and look them in the eye and let them know that they had an impact on my life.

Internet is great, but its slowly becoming the a bad sci fi movie plot.

I voted "other", because there are circumstances behind my excessive time on the internet, and it goes against my common sense to label my excessive time on th internet as addiction. I just don't have better things to do, and I get alot out of using the internet.

Why am I so amazed by this low number? I use the internet a lot myself but I am in no way addicted to it. Before about a month ago I only had acces to the internet at home now that has changed a little whit the purchase of a netbook(yes I have and will never buy a phone). One of my major interests right now is Anime and well I Just torrent that and watch it offline.

I can stop "using" anytime I want to. I only choose to waste my life away on the internet.

Streaming media pretty much replaced my tv,
Dictionaries/Encyclopaedias etc. can be found online.
I wouldn't say I'm addicted to the internet, it just replaced alot of stuff..

I am addicted, but i can go off of it when i need to, i would say im on the internet 80% of the time i am awake, sad i know but its a big part of me :D

I hate our internet where I am, it's slow at night so you can only play games or watch movies lag free during the day. It often goes down when your using it which is annoying. It even went down just now and I had to re-write this comment

I don't miss it when i'm not around it. However I am a supporter of good open source software so I need the internet in order to get these to my computer or download the newest linux updates.

I could live without the internet forever. The money i'd save on the internet bill could pay for the extra markup high street stores put on music, electronics & games. However internet shopping is one of the best inventions for everyday things. I still buy my clothes at a real store!

I like to spend time in the Internet, but when I need to do other stuff, I have no trouble at all about leaving the PC.

It's not that I am actually addicted to the internet, it's that I usually don't have anything better to do but when the time does come up where I am able to go out and do something, I don't need the internet any more.

Yes, it is so much more interesting then anything on TV. I have even caused issues with my mom to resurface, where I am meeting the 75% bandwidth usage during mid months. I used to be a lot worse with video games, but now it is more of a internet addiction.

Well when my internet connection went down for a couple of days I had absolutely nothing to do around the house.

I don't know how to define it for myself. I do spend a heck of a lot of time on the Internet but I have had many benefits out of it e.g. I met my girlfriend on the Internet (she's a gamer :O) but because of long distance we do spend a lot of time on the net talking and gaming together - Therefore when ever I'm on my desktop (which is a lot) I am using the Internet, if it be to browse, IM or game. 

On the other hand I am a full time student, I have a part time job and I do go out to the gym when I can or ride my bike or meet up with some mates (who are also Internet addicts :P). So I'll go with kinda.

PS: When I was younger around 13 or so my parents went through an odd stage and felt I was an Internet addict and cut my connection for 6-7 months? Must say that was absolutely horrible! I was so bored and just felt devastated as they wouldn't let me see my gf either so we had to survive on me at High school spending every moment I could on breaks in the IT room using email to talk lol... then couldn't really game either. Urgh, rubbish to think about lol.

i only use internet for actavating my games. downloading patches. and keeping windows 7 ultimate up to date.

Not really, for example when I was on vacation for a week I could care less about the internet. I am on "a lot" but I can get off without being asked twice.

I am not addicted to networks i think, lice facebook (dont even have an acc)
but i am a student and have no TV whatsoever, the only entertainment is my 5.1 machine connected to my laptop (6 y old).

I use my connection a lot but I can also live without. I just need to check my mails from my work, but I don't think that this is included in addictions. YouTube, Facebook etc. are not everything for me. Even I spend quite some time in the web I'm not frustrated or angry when I don't have the time to get online. And I think thats what an addiction makes an addiction. Not how much time the thing takes of your day but if you are able to live without it.

I can't stand to be on more than 1 hour at a clip. Usually no more than a 1/2 hour, then I start losing it from boredom!

well for me, everything i do, i do on a pc. since i haven't had TV, or a TV at all since 2005, my rig is my total entertainment system. tv shows, movies online, Blu-ray/DVD viewing, music, Internet and gaming. so i'm not sure if i qualify as being addicted.. maybe to movies!  =P

i am at the computer here most of the time though.. got a real nice comfortable highback chair, big lcd,  footrest under the desk.. can just kick back, do it all right here.

so i guess it just depends on what you do at the pc, i dunno.. i used to be addicted to CoD4, i lost alot of sleep over that game! but finally last year grew a little tired of it, was just same old , same old over and over. and way too many hacks. but i still play the game, and many others. i'm more into movies than anything, have been since i was a kid!

on a side note, i may be addicted to Youtube, i probably spend more time on that site than i should! i'm subscribed to over 200 people.. so yeah, i guess that would be my latest addiction.
