I have a really nice razor keyboard, this keyboard stays clean for a long time because of the close key arrangements and this is the best keyboard I've ever encountered, just deep cleaned it today for the first time in about 2 years, was getting icky, should be good for another 2 years now :).
I am cleaning my keybord only then when i had a coffe in it .Then i will wach it whith water dry litlebit and itś ok to use.I have only problems whit a and it has a holes in it and burnd sigaret spots.
Its worked fine abaut 10years :)
I rarely if ever clean my Keyboard. I blow it off occasionally, but the only time I've actually cleaned my Keyboard was after a Pop spill and my Keyboard was one of the high dollar models.
Sadly the company that licensed it stopped supporting it so I sent it back to them and got a refund since it was fairly new and they didn't want to take the time to create the required Drivers for Win 7.
I really liked that Keyboard too, because it was a cinch to separate the Keys from the base and you could wash them with warm water to rid yourself of a mess like I had with the Pop spill.
After that however, I'm soured on high dollar keyboards. If it's more than $50, I'm not buying it.
after 8 years i found tabaco for 2 ciggarets in there and 2 Ironpin`s in it,so i don`t clean it often ,because i`m happy to found these small suprise`s in it...
Every 2 weeks when I clean my room.
every 5 minuts i clean my keyboard XD
i have a lycosa mirror...
whenever i spill something on it or it gets shit in between the keys
So far I've only cleaned my keyboard once, but it was a good clean... I stuck it in the dishwasher! Low heat with soap (don't use rinse programme as that doesn't use soap). Came out looking like new (apart from being a bit discoloured). Left it to dry for a week and it's working great! Just make sure you have a spare keyboard before you try this!
"A few times a year" is clearly the winner.
I saw little pieces of stuff in between the keys so I took it apart and the keys were caked with oil and little pieces of food. It was so nasty.
Once a day! and I clean the mouse usually in the morning before I start working!
I clean my keyboard when I clean my romm exactly . Usually 1 - 2 times a month.
I usually clean it when I clean my room which is about twice a week, I just try to keep the dust as low as possible because of my PC mostly(has as many intake fans as out)
I've never cleaned my keyboard because I don't know how to do it properly. Do you have any suggestions on how I should do it? Do you need special tools or can you use common stuff that you got at home?
Can you please make a Youtube video about it?
And please, keep the videos coming. You are awesome! xD
It really depends on how dirty the keyboard really is =P but if it's just really dusty just have a damp cloth and wipe at it, each key individually if you really want to and you can take each key off(if you really wanted to =/) - most desktop keyboards are different from laptop ones so I'm not sure how to take the keys off, have a quick browse on Google =)
I started cleaning my keyboard often after reading about how toilet seats allegedly were found to be cleaner than a grimy keyboard in some research project. :|
Btw, I cannot seem to register at 3dgameman. I have send a message using the input form on this website, but have not heard anything yet. I hope things are working.
Well, I never eat at my computer, and my keyboard retracts underneath the desk top, so it's almost never dirty or even dusty. Plus I have an Ionic Breeze air filter about 3 feet away from my pc. Helps keep the entire area nearly dust free. Hmmmm...I may have issues that need exploring. I'll get back to you after I wash my hands again.
when I had eclipse 2 & 1 keyboards I took them apart and gave them a wash in the shower lol But now I got Logictech illimunated keyboard and taking apart and washing is bad idea as i found out on 1st one i had :/
I have Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Gaming Keyboard, & when ever its gets dirty I clean it up!
There is no specific days or weeks. I only clean stuff when they gets dirty.
I dont get it really. Why should I clean my keyboard on a regular basis. It's not like it goes unused 10 days of each month. As a gamer, webdesigner and webdeveloper I reckon I strike about 10000 keys a day, if not more. So there would be little to no dust build-up...
Gimme one good reason why I should do it a couple of times a month! :D
Just a few times a year is all I do.
I do keep a roll of masking tape close by. Sometimes when I'm bored, I like to fold over a piece of tape, sticky side out, and then I dig out the crud and cat hair between the keys.
I clean my precious Razer Lycosa once or twice a month.
Holy Keyboard , Majority voted on A few times a year o_O
I just like take out the screws and just remove the dust ..
never, its dirty but i always remember something i heard long ago : A clean desk is the sign of a broken computer :p
I like to keep it clean. All i do is shake the keyboard and the stuff comes out easily. :D
mmmm... why clean the keyboard... if stop working just you need buy new one :D
It doesnt get very dirty, so I dont need to clean it very often.
I clean my keyboard once a week with cleaning wipes. I vacuum the keys about once a month and every 6 months I remove all the keys and use alcohol for a 100% cleaning. Need to consider that keyboards are nasty and full of germs.
After about a year if my kids don't spill drinks on them or if I've hit the keyboard too hard after a game or 3GM stress they get replaced anyway.
As a matter of fact after looking at the junk in my keys I'm going to 100% clean it right now! ![]()
Prime example... Keyboards really collect all kind of stuff over time, especially if you eat and compute ;)
I'm 100% sure what you see there in the keyboard pics are my Cheez-It Duoz that I snack on during online game play. It's a nasty habit! ![]()

i have never cleaned my keyboard. looking at your before picture i will be cleaning it today. good job with the after picture
What I did was use a dull butter knife and pop the keys off from left to right. Made sure to lay the keys out in order. Used a scrub brush for about 3 minutes. Then grabbed the vacuum cleaner duster end to remove all of the crumbs. The stuff that was sticky I cleaned with 8 Q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Then I blow out the keys and hand washed them in alcohol before putting them back. It takes about 2 hours from start to finish but the results are golden. Some of the keys can be tricky to put back in, like the shift, enter and spacebars. I should have made a commercial!
Holy crap man!
I clean my keyboards all the time, but when you pop the keys off be ready to clean for 2 hours! ![]()
I clean it about twice a year. I don't just do a little dabbing either, I take every single key out, soak them in hot soapy water, scrub them, and dry them. Before I put them back in, I vacuum the keyboard. Theres usually enough crumbs underneath the keys to feed an army. Then I go along the grooves where the keys go with cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. Put the keys back in and BAM! I just got a shiny new keyboard :D
LOL... Do the results so far surprise anyone?

I clean it whenever I spill coffee on it. seems to happen at least once a year.
Oooops. Forgot to login... I commented below
I dont have any dust or something that makes the keys stuck, so I dont need :P
A pool about cleaning our computer would be cool also.
Whenever I get into the habit of cleaning my Desk space area, I tend to also clean my keyboard and that just so happens to be a couple times a month.
Basically until a key gets stuck. Its difficult to clean my laptops keyboard.
I wipe it when the blood starts making it all sticky, which is about once a week. It's real hard to get off, I have to scrape at it all the time -___-
I clean mine EVERY DAY. I'm so obsessed. I don't know why.
I think once a month I clean it with the vacuum cleaner.
Careful not to suck any keys off!
You know it's time to clean your keyboard when nasty body oil, fades off the lettering.
Once a week
I don't know how to clean my keyboard, I just buy a new onw every 3 months or so.
