Depends on what game, sometimes I buy on release but others I wait. Example Black Ops I got on release, Dantes Inferno on sale
In Croatia games are toooo expensive,so Yepper it is....
i too cheep to pay new reales prices
It depends, but i dont' play a lot of different games. I have favorite shooters that I play multi. If its one of these series, as for instance COD BlackOps--I already "preordered". One can't really wait for a price drop imo for a multi shooter. If one waits too long--its brutal--your competition already has all the acheivements and special weapons, and its harder to get up to speed when one is such an underdog. Not impossible, but harder.
Currently I'm waiting about 10 years and then picking them up in the bargain basement bins. Too much fun outside playing real games !
I don't buy special, I like to buy it on the release date. I do buy limited edition consoles though, I have gow edition of psp, had an re 5 LE of 360, sold it and bought the mw2 limited edition. Sorry guys but I have to admit, I pirate some pc games that I don't need to play online.
I have already Pre-Order NFS:Hot Pursuit(2010)& Test Drive: Unlimited 2 for PC. Also if I have the money, I will Pre-Order the game if I'm interested to it, or wait for the video reviews.
If it's a good game I'll buy it regardless the price. Or if I don't really mind if I have it or not I'll buy it when it's cheaper.
Sonic Platinum twin light turbo? Where do they come up with their names.
Am always looking ahead, for release dates of new games. When it does come out, I want to get it ASAP, don't wanna be left out.
However games I don't want, I will get later on special... but my main answer is no.
I purchase games when I have the money. There's a lot of games out there that I would like to buy, I just don't have the time or money to play them right now. I stick mainly to massive open world games.
The shop on the internet lol!
i pirate games. i haven't purchased one in years.
People like you are what is wrong with gaming. And people in general these days. Stealing is stealing. It's never right or ok.
Remember this is just a poll about buying games full price or waiting for the sale. There is no need to attack people for answering with the truth. We are all aware that people pirate software. So don't worry about them, Nobody is immune to the laws of bad karma. It's like gravity, what goes around comes around. Maybe it's 60$ for a stolen game now and is replaced with 60$ for a speeding ticket later.
Sorry, I just can not stomach these people. They are the reason fewer and fewer PC games are coming out. Only takes a few to destroy it for us all.
That's how I roll.
Just like yourself I do the same.
some games i get at launch day some others i don't. like CoD:MW2 and BF:bad company 2 i got on launchday but mafia 2 i just baought yesterday. so abit depending on how mutch money i have to spare and wat title it is.
I'm a little of both. Case in point, DCS: Black shark cost me almost $100 between the game and overseas order for a printed copy of the 500+ page manual. Also games I'm a huge fan of like STALKER, Battlefield, and Half-Life I will get launch day if possible. Others I wait for in most cases to save some cash. Especially with some of the crazy Steam sales.
Post above was me, I just registered. :D
I go with Rodney, resurch and THEN buy the game. Good Example: Modern Warfare 2. I'm happy that I did not spend like 60$ for that game with all that glitching, hacking, bossting, etc. which no one really cares about who could fix that problem (namely Infinity Ward). Maybe I will get it after Black Ops came out just to play the Storyline...
lol pay for a game really,i pirate all my games the first day they come out...best part its free
Some games I buy right away but most I wait for the first price drop.
Some might be interested in this...
If it's a game which has a long lasting following and isn't (partially) discarded by the community the moment the Next Big Thing (or DLC) arises and I like it, I will pay full price for it. Perfect example is Starcraft II.
Popular games on PS3 eventually go platinum so it's kinda foolish to pay the full price knowing this, if you're on a limited budget. The downside ofcourse is that by the time you buy the game, people will have moved on and speak in terms like "yeah that game WAS fun" and "I already finished that" -- which often leaves you without people to play with, at least the ones you know.
Last game i bought was MW2, all the rest i'm downloading them from torrent sites, especially games with no multiplayer.
I'm buying games only in rare occasions, when i have free time to play some multiplayer or play with friends.
There are only 2 or 3 games in a year that worth the 50 or 60 bucks, all the rest should cost 15 bucks, cause i won't pay more for 10 hours of gameplay, sorry developers.
A big example is Mafia II, i mean that game should cost 10$, not even a dollar more. It was something like 8-10 hours of gameplay?? WTF?? I can imagine the face of a guy who has just finished the game, after spending 50 bucks for it lol :D
actually 10 hours of game-play is already a lot i would pay like 30€ for it but if it is only like 5 hours than i would pay like 10€ for it
i sometimes wait for specials. call of duty modern warfare 2 i bought on release date. im doing the same for black ops.
Depends on the game, usually wait but I'll probably buy a game like fallout 3 for full price
I`m a Fan of old Worldwargames (FPS) , but i like Modern Warfare too.
Old Wargames because , it is Interessting for me , how it was in the History many Year´s ago.I do not like the Arcarde FPS much ,i`m more interessted in FPS-Simulation were the Story in SP or MP never be the same , or scripted demolition like some Games are AtM.
I like Flysimulator of old History and Modern Wardfare too.
I often wait long for new Thing`s in the Physicalicengine`s in Games (Ragdoll/Demolition/Ballistic etc.)
The Graphic is a point which will end in few Year`s, then all Games are like Photo-/Videorealistic so they don`t got much different in Human Eye`s to seen ,between the Bit`s.
Carrace make`s Fun too :)
I really Smoke much last time, maybe i have to touch the Green Fire.
So i go back in the Churchtower and wait.
Greetings from Shicetube/Ch33t4h
Sometimes I do. Usually if the game is GREAT, I'll buy it regardless or even pre-order.
I like to get them the day when they get out, or even preorder.
Now I'm waiting for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad (gonna be the best WW2 tactical shooter ever made) and Portal 2
I don't w8 for a review coz is 80% sponsored so f... it i see trailer/demo/beta if smth is not right i dont buy it (or w8 to buy it)
Only wait for a game to go on sale if unsure how much I would like the game or have a choice between 2 games which I can only afford one. Borderlands is an example of a game I bought because it was on sale as I was unsure if I would like the game a lot, the teaser looked good and was 50% off.
I waited for Mass Effect 2 to go on special and basically bought a lot of games at Steam's summer sale. I also always wait for a complete season of Sam and Max.
Some games I will buy in a heartbeat, like Portal 2 when it comes - unless I hear something bad about it.
But steam mostly taught us to wait.
No, I like to get them the day they come out.
Im getting Halo Reach tomorrow
Mostly I wait, but sometimes, the rare game I will pre-order, or buy before the price drops.
60$ for a game that you put a few hundred hours into sounds like a good deal if you ask me. Most people spend that much on Movies + Dinner. Might be cheaper to just buy a game and sit around the house. lol
I am sorry to say, but I download all my games :P. The only reason to buy a game these days is if you want to play multiplayer. Otherwise you can get it free online. The reason I don't buy it is again because its expensive, If games were for $10 - $20, I would truly consider getting a few just to be able to play online. I think one good thing game developers could do is make the download much cheaper, since you don't have to produce the cover or DVD's etc..
But until the prices drop I probably won't be buying any games.
i usually wait for the price to go down before i buy the game. paying $60 for a game just doesn't sound good. the good thing is that i still get to enjoy game at a lower price if i wait rather than paying 60 bucks
For most games I only buy them when they are on special or if it looks really good after reading reviews.
It all depends on the game, and for what platform it's on, If it's something like TVC on Wii, and I know it's gonna be hard to get my hands on it, I will go ahead and get it, now something off Steam, I will wait till it's on sale, cause i can't see paying $40-$60 for a download, when the box copy shipped from say Amazon, is the same price. Plus I consider myself a CAG(Cheap Ass Gamer), and we hate to generally pay full retail for a game, same also goes as considering myself as a ScrewAttack G1 ;) Also all my other things come first before my gaming ALWAYS!, such as bills, family, Fancie, Etc.., then my electronics, and games. :-)
I usually wait on any game that has a HUGE discount, especially on STEAM, including all of the mediocre games. Too bad I can't say the same for Modern Warfare 2. That big piece of doodoo of a game is still being sold at too high a price.
Time to look elsewhere...
If it's a game I've been waiting for a while and that I know will last a while 20+ hours, if it has multiplayer, singleplayer can be shorter, I'll buy it if it,s under 50$. (Fallout New Vegas for example which is said will take 100h+ to finish everything) Otherwise, I wait for a special.
