Me i usually use 1.5x the current memory installed and the page file is located on a different non-OS HDD, so with my 4gb physical memory i use 6gb pagefile and i setup so it doesnt grow to help pagefile fragmentation (i've been doing this for awhile now, and started to use the Superfetch/Readyboost Technology with USB when i started to move over into Windows 7)

me i would never disable pagefile because some applications look for this and can cause bsod etc

So , the main point is the speed without pagefile, 10 times faster responsivenees (moments) , super fast alt-tabing , no stupid UI lag (right click) , and of course , no HDD rumbling for "nothing" all the time (it's for nothing cause a right click needed HDD to rumble about 150MB to open the stupid context menu)

Page File is the primary cause of the unbarable UI lag and unresponsiveness of the system when playing games , if you have 4GB memory , disable the pagefile, it's a good savior but still a thing of the past especiall on HDDs.

Pagefile does help the system on, while , if you run out of only ram memory , your system and applications will stop responding and will not be able to be closed via processes , games freeze , loss of current data , you will need to reboot , if critical system is still ok ;; if a driver runs out of memory it's a BSOD.
