great review rodney... this case has caught my eye and is reasonably priced in the uk at £95 ... however my only gripe is the massive cutout by the psu... i would of prefered a large cable routing grommet next to the psu which would of still kept things tidy
the tooless design is excellent and iike the way the rails are kept in a optical drive bay for easy access... how many times have we misplaced these rails and cant find them when needed...
the 220mm side fan will keep most multi gpu system cool, however i would imagine 6 x 120mm fans would be too noisy.. but that does depend on what fans you use... im currently using bitfenix 120mm fans which i must admit are near silent
in regards to the top 120mm fan... i have the one fan exhausting and the 120mm fan next to it as a intake fan... allthough this sounds odd it actually works very well and keeps my E5700 and crossfire HD5750,s nice and cool.....
personally i dont beleive theres any "correct " way to install your case fans.. its trial and error and some experimentation until you get the best possible cooling ....
another possible issue with this case is the bottom mounted psu.... many guys especially with budget psu,s will discover the motherboard power connectors wont reach.... i use a 600w ocz stealthstream psu and the cables are plenty long enough, however cheaper psu,s tend to have shorter cables but this can be fixed by purchasing extenders which can be purchased from good retailers
finally theres plenty of space in this case.. more than what i thought and even with a crossfire configuration and a cool it eco alc it still looks empty... ( compared to my previous NZXT M59) ... and in regards to closed loop water cpu coolers like the eco( and corsair H50 ) these will fit on the rear 120mm fan mountings without any problems... some other cases can accomodate these cooler but you cant close the case properly afterwards... however theres around 3mm of space between the side of the cool it eco and the side panel on the case...
in summary the In Win Dragon Rider Case is a impressive chassis and makes any build a breeze.... and apart from some personal gripes ( which are minor ) this is pretty much flawless.. and for that reason it deserves high acclaim......
one of the best cases around at the moment and well worth considering !
nice review rodney !
