The SilverStone Strider series of power supplies have always been excellent, but they just got better! If you're in the market for a quality, high wattage power supply, that performs extremely well, looks great, has a quiet 135mm fan and is 100% modular, the SilverStone Strider Gold 1200W Power Supply is it.
Hey rodney, new on your site and love it!
i'm currently collectning data for my next pc, and following your reviews closely...
My question is: i'm on a budget and was wondering, do you have any knowlege of this psu but less watt? i can save a resonable amount of money on buying a 1000w or even 800w. so i am thinking, does what has impressed you so mutch in the 1200w will shine through to the lower ranks?
Rodney, when you installed this in the CM ATCS 840, did you find that the mounting bracket didn't quite line-up with the holes? That's what I found so I had to improvise.
Have you tested a lower wattage?
I need a 850W-1000W PSU.
big and alot of power
is this better than corsair
The reason it does not have a power switch is because of excessive current on such a high wattage PSU, which may potentially damage the internals. SS was smart to consider this and many manufacturers who have produced PSUs in excess of 1000W have done the same.
That's true, but some will still want a power switch regardless. lol
Yeah, I've noticed that as well on alot of highend PSU's.
You can't learn enough in your life. Something I haven't known by now. Thank you for this input (info).
Nice product, but it's a shame that a power switch is missing :( ... so much detail in design and quality... can't understand that they were not be able to implement an ordinary switch.
Maybe it would be nice to have one of those switches, but how often do you power off the computer at the back of the PSU? I don't have a power switch on my PSU either and I really don't mind because I can just use my power-strip switch or remove the power plug all together.
I'm so impressed with the SilverStone Strider Gold 1200W Power Supply it's going in my #1 rig: www.RodsRig.com
If that doesn't say anything about the products then I don't know what will.
I agree with Rodney, this is a 100% kickass product. There are no negative sides to this product other than price and that's just the cost of building a high quality power supply.
Other than the fact that it has a single 100A rail which means in the event of a short it won't trip the OCP until after the rest of your system has been vaporized, yeah, its looks pretty good.
Pretty much all high end PSU's are single rail. It's more efficient and makes the internal wiring easier.
Apparently someone thinks it needs work... LMAO
I removed a post from one of your trolls fans, so that might explain the needs work vote. ![]()
If it's that scary, I'll be a cordless power supply for Halloween.
