Sorry for my absence, but yesterday was a mix of good and bad that kept me distracted.
Good, of course, involved church, the Easter egg hunt, and a huge late breakfast (brunch?) at my in-laws, surrounded by sugar-fueled kids.
Bad was that my eldest cat had a serious seizure and was unable to walk, use the litter (which of course involves walking), or even drink. He was all still attached upstairs, but moving was terribly painful afterwards, even when I moved him, and we made the decision to end his suffering.
He was 19 years old. I got him as a kitten during the first few months of the relationship between my wife and I. He has been with us the entire time, guarding the house, teaching our four children who all were blessed by him as babies. I lost a good friend, and our house is still a little off. The two younger cats keep asking about him, and the dog is just quiet. I think he understands better than the others.
Anyway, happy Easter, to you and yours.
