I can list some known Antiviruses off the top of my head in no particular order.

Mcafee total protection (I am currently using the 90 day trial version)
Malwarebytes
Spybot Search & destroy (not a bad program, I’ve been using it for a while, it has gotten rid of trojans in the past for me)
Ad Aware
Avira
AVG
Avast
Norton 360 (I stopped using Norton because I found other antiviruses to be better)
Kaspersky
Zone Alarm
Windows Defender

Out of these, what would you say was a better app? from good to worse? and how many antispyware apps would you say are needed? obviously you need at least one to prevent passwords and billing information from being stolen aka phishing, but we also need to keep in mind the more apps we have running the more memory and CPU cycles get used, I have an i7 so it doesn’t matter to me much, but for some others it will matter.

Malwarebytes, however I’d recommend Kaspersky. You might also want to checkout Bit Defender.

I also recommend Kaspersky. They are one of the few “big boys” that still don’t follow the rules, e.g. law enforcement backdoors. I started using them in 2007, on one machine, and now I buy their Internet Security as a group license, 8 seats “managed” by me, and zero problems.

Have fun, be safe! Sláinte!

Thanks people, I changed my order on Amazon for Kasphersky internet security 2015. When my mcafee trial runs out I will install kasphersky and remove mcafee. Anything to protect my stuff and my computer from the garbage that dwells on the web 🙂
