Apparently a piece of Malware which was injecting my KMplayer software was detected and blocked by Malwarebytes, presumably before it got a chance to do any harm and my security apps are up to date. But are there still any risks it poses even though it got quarantined and deleted off my computer?
Here I’ll post a screenshot of the detection log.
I hope it isn’t wasting my time with false alerts, because Avira used to do that to me and I don’t see why KMplayer would contain such a file like a trojan. CNET is usually very good at keeping the software they host clean and it certainly wouldn’t come from KMplayer’s official website, which is where I downloaded it from. Either case, I erased the quarantined files and wondering what else to do.
I also run Kaspersky too, if my passwords are encrypted, then they are safe and I don’t need to change them. But that’s only if the anti theft feature protects them too.

My detection appears to be almost exactly the same as this persons, no registry items left over, just a detection and files being moved from the temp folder to quarantine. Anything to worry about? I’d like to know, thanks in advance. 🙂
Edit : Kaspersky detected nothing and the guard was on, which also leads me to suspect this may be a false positive.
Malwarebytes have reported (fail-positive) Skype a few times for me, but other than that it’s solid.
Yeah but as you’d say, better safe than sorry, so I don’t mind it reporting a suspicious program for me to take a look at it. I want to get the Anti exploit app to toughen security and close the remaining security holes on my system though. Leaving things to chance is the worst thing to do.
Agreed.. Malwarebytes is excellent.
I hear using an IP mask can further protect against remote attacks and hackers but when I tried Free IP hide it added latency to my connection so in my opinion wasn’t worth my time. All I can do is be careful what websites I use and try to avoid backdoor programs getting on my machine, sometimes even CNET or softpedia apps contain malwares which can be a pain.

Edit ; delete this post, it appears there was an accidental double post. lol
